The Polyleritae District
Ah yes a district. I’m sorry but what does Polyleritae means? So apparently tossing the word into Kagi’s search engine. This first result was a wikipedia for a book called Utopia. Firstly, thats an interesting discovery since the nature of this place was a facade of its former glory and how “beautiful” it was. (In reality that wasn’t true but lets save that for later.) Secondly, the word Polyleritate has a meaning of “muchnonsense”. Actually, I just learned something even more interesting.
There’s a character called Hythlodaeus and reading further along the meanings of words that the wikipedia offers for this book. I learned that their name means “dispenser of nonsense” since the locations within Utopia tend to be nonsensical in meaning. Now this is all tied towards Greek definitions to my understanding so I can’t delve too much beyond that sadly.
Still this was quite a fascinating revelation about how the translators and developers viewed of this zone. Now I’m starting to wonder the names of other locations within Shadowbringers.
Nevertheless, thats all I have for today’s post. I hope you folks have a good day/night!
