Valley
This reminds me of Dravania Hinterlands for some reason. Heack even the Forelands gives a similar vibe. In reality this shot was taken roughly in the Voeburtenburg area in Il Mheg. Probably the most tame looking area in comparison to the other side of the lake. Kind’ve weird on the polar differences between the two. Not saying that its any safer though.
Anyways, its an amazing shot in my opinion. If anything the sun’s lighting is what sells this shot. This kind of shot makes me somewhat feel terrible about how my prior shots look like. Not in Il Mheg but in the prior expansions in general. Its sort’ve hard to say if there’s been any improvements with my shots in my opinion.
I suppose it can be easily to figure that part out by simply compare older screenshots to newer ones at the same time. That would be one way, but no matter how I look at it. I don’t think I’m a suitable judge for my own screenshots.
Fan Festival 2023 Video Contest
So I don’t know how but I don’t recall there being a video and art contest going on for the Fan Fest. I probably forgotten about it when I realized that I wouldn’t be able to particpate in it. Makes me very sad…. Regardless, I discovered the video contest entries and found them pretty great. I can’t say that every one matches a similar level of quality, but they did reach the finalists so these contestants did achieve something.
Let me just copy and paste what the premise was for the Video Contest.
“Contestants were tasked with creating a short video using in-game footage to entice viewers to play their favorite class or job in FINAL FANTASY XIV.”
I do want to mention three of the contestants that had caught my attention Oh yeah click down here if you want to see all of the contestant videos.
Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest Video Entries
Fan Fest Contest Voting information and other stuff
V-04 Soul of the Machinist by Xaewol
I’ve found this entry to be one of the most stellar ones. In particular was the camera movements. In fact, this video has brought in some inspirations. If I were to use my vote this would likely be my first pick but…
V-16 The Monk by Matt
This feels like something that I can easily see the developers making. Honestly, this video seems to capture the essence of what the contest is shooting for and I would almost put this on top of “Soul of the Machinist” due to that aspect alone. However we can’t forget about the the last entry.
V-25 Find Your Rod, Find Yourself by Luca
Gotta be one of the hilarious entries for the finalists. I’ve watched this clip one too many times already. The humor may not be any special but I just love it for what it is.
Overall
Personally all three of these entries are what I would put my vote for. However each one has something special going for it that the others don’t have. As a result making a decision is a hard one for me. I like “Soul of the Machinist” due to its visuals, “Find Your Rod” is great for its humor and lastly “The Monk” feels like its something that the developers would’ve made.
As a whole I’m going to spend some time to deliberate on these choices and the other entries that I hadn’t mentioned. There’s roughly a week or two before the voting is finalized so there’s no rush.
Kind’ve wished that I was aware of this contest since I would’ve consider on putting in my own entry. Oh well.
Anyhow, thats all for today. I hope you folks have a good day/night!
(If you haven’t noticed, but I’ve been hitting another stride with the game as of late which sort’ve explains the longer posts.)
