Now with the previous day over. Time to hangout by a cozy fire by myself… Actually, how did I get up here again? No matter. The view is quite nice. Camp Dragonhead is just a bit over in the distance and “fortunately” its snowing.
Hopefully, I can hop on down and further explore this place. looks down over edge Might prove a challenge though.
Website Shenanigans
Thanks to the new theme. Each post now has a cover image before you click on it, while on home page. Although, I am debating about updating the background with a blurred out image in FFXIV. The only problem is noise. Currently, the website has next to zero noise pollution, but by adding a background image may pose too distracting. Making the actual blog posts unreadable. Blurring out the image may solve that problem, but needs to be a fairly clean image.
Another problem with the image is load times. Testing with the new cover images. The website can take a few seconds to load everything. Now the text is readable in an instant, but the images are the problem. I would need to further explore with caching and or compression to help reduce load times of the images. Ultimately, it may not pose too much of a problem, yet optimization and performance improvements is still nice.
Automating posts
Hugo’s biggest downsize is how you make the posts, but given its simplicity makes it fairly easy to automate it. As such, I have just recently ease the creation and previewing of these posts. Currently, I am using Ansible to basically do all of the commands that I would normally do, but I don’t have to actually remote into the server anymore. My goal with these posts is to spend no more than hour working on them since I do like to have life outside of this. Automating the tasks of creating and posting, gives me more time to work on the blog itself.
Ultimately, this will be all today. I didn’t get to gardening stuff today due to me having to go to work soon. Have a good day folks.
