The High Crucible of Al-Kimiya

One of the more fascinating spots in Radz-at-Han. Nice thing about this place is that its inside a building and don’t have to worry about the acursed night or fog impeding today’s screenshot. My schedule hasn’t been all that helpful with getting these shots as of late. Although, I gotta ask. Why the huge alchemical furnace?

I doubt that they need a specific substance of large quantity all of the time. Sure during the Main Scenario Quests. They had to mass produce a bunch of talismans, but I doubt that they will be doing that in the foreseeable future. I would imagine they will then produce something else but what exactly? Is there truely anything they need that requires large quantities of it? The only possible line of thought for meis trade. Eitherway, seems quite a monumental task that is quite intriguing to watch.

I probably should mention that the amount of unused space they use in this area is also quite insane. Then again I can understand to a degree that they would need it a large amount of space since their leader is sort’ve of at the colossal size.

Market Board Observation/Suggestion

There’s one random thing that I want to make note of. That is with the Market Board. To be more specific, I wanted to mention a bit of a small experiment with putting items out for sale. Mind you, I haven’t done this experiement at any large scale that you can benefit from. It would require far more time to invest on the market board with a larger variety of items being sold. To be blunt I have done very little undercutitng with the items that I have sold. In fact, one of the items I haven’t touched the price and is probably the most lucrative out of the bunch. Sure you might think I’m selling it for a steal, in reality I’ve jacked the price extremely high to the point that anyone can easily compete it. Yet for whatever reason no one hasn’t actively fought me.

The most I have seen with people is that they will sell an item or two slightly cheaper than me, but eventually my items will still sell. I think there was a week period in which people sold the item cheaper than me but it was at most 3-4 items at once. I just checked my retainer today and it appears my items are once again being bought. Essentially, my little observation has shown that depending on the type of item you sell. It will eventually be bought out by other people even if the item isn’t cheap. Now I haven’t actively been watching this, but I do believe there is merit in doing this sort of tactic over undercutting other players. The main problem being is finding the right items to sell.

I would potentially suggest to some folk that if you have the time and resources. Try looking at the market (furniture in particular) and see what has a fair amount of recent purchases plus very little people selling it. You would want to pick an item that you can reliably gather/acquire a large quantity of. Sell a bunch of them for a set price that is reasonable (determine this based on the sale history) and never change the price even if people do undercut you. To put it in another way. Try to focus on the long-term and not short-term gains.

One of the key aspects in selling items in the market board is “conveinence”. Sure selling the most current patch level gear will give you bank, but the problem is that you will have to play the undercutting game since many other players will do the same thing (especially bots). I tried it with one item to see how it will play out and over the course of 5 days. I gave up selling the item because you would literally have to stand next to a summoing bell to prepare changing the price of the item again to stay on the top of list. However, this doesn’t mean you can’t make a profit on the market board since there are thousands upon thousands of items you can sell on it and there is always an opportunity to make bank.

Truthfully, this would require you to spend time and look at the market board and probably get familiar with how to sort and find items as well. All I can say is that early on you should try to diversify the type of items you sell and the ones that show signs of being bought out. Try to dedicate more resources on those. I would advise against actively looking at whether the items sold since it would just cause you to get paranoid and want to constantly undercut other players.

Another odd tactic you could try to do is pretend you are different people with your retainers. Have one retainer sell a few of one item and another sell a few more the same, but maybe at a reduced price. Now I should mention that if you are selling gear. People can and will notice the name of the person that crafted it. It would be a dead giveaway that you are having your retainers sell the same item from yourself. There’s probably a way for others to figure out with other items, but I don’t know the method (mods is probably one method). Mind you, I have no idea if this tactic is even effective. I just know that its an option that you can try with.

Beyond all that I have said. I haven’t been in the market board game till very recently. There is however a few key things that I think is worthwhile to consider if you do delve into it. Firstly, go after “conveinence” since people will pay for anything even if they can just walk over to a vendor in a residential district. Secondly, avoid actively undercutting unless you like sitting next to a market board and retainer for the ends of times. Thirdly diversify, you shouldn’t try to sell just one item since supply and demand is a constantly changing force. Lastly, produce a bulk of items you intend to sell. I doubt many want to spend every single day and night constantly having to replenish what they are selling all because they can’t be bothered to spend some time to produce a large quantity of items to last for a month. (I should also mention doing this only if you are confident that you can consistently sell that item).

There are mere suggestions from someone who has spent some time observing the items that they sold and looking for potential opportunities. There is one last thing that I feel like mentioning about the market board. If you intend to sell items on it for a long time you shouldn’t always try to make a bunch of money in the short-term. Also consider long-term gains and the value in time of acquiring items.

Anyways, I don’t have much else to say at this stage. As such, I hope you folks have a good day/night!
