Stormblood [4.0]: Post may contain potential spoilers.
Ala Ghiri
So today isn’t my day. Can’t really focus at the moment. Likely due to the events earlier in the day. Anyhow, lets dive a bit into today’s screenshot.
Something that I find odd, is that there’s been very few storms interfering with my shots. Atleast, since I moved back to Gyr Abania. Its sort’ve a nice change. Although, I do have questions for that huge crystal floating above the town.
To be more accurate, why? Why did they add that into this area? What’s so special about it? How did it even come into existence? All questions that probably won’t get answered. I do have more questions, but its pointless to add more when I’m not going to answer my own.
Let’s talk about the town it self. Ala Ghiri to my knowledge used to be a trading hub, but since Garlean rule. They didn’t really do anything but answer the whims of those above them. It doesn’t help that a rather large base happens to be nearby as well. This place was likely a place for soldiers to relax and terroize its residents. I don’t really know what has happened to the place once it gets “liberated”. It primarily becomes a forward base of operations at least till the siege of Ala Mhigo.
Funny little detail that I just noticed. I think the strucutures in the back appear to be duplicates of each other. Obviously, I didn’t expect the developers to make unquie structures for each building. Then again, it feels a tad offputing considering the layout of the town. All of the buildings are put against the natural wall and it feels it bit barren in the middle. However, that makes sense since this place was a trading hub. Stands to reason that they would need a vast open space for stalls and such forth. It just feels far too orderly.
Odd feelings aside. I don’t really got much else to say about this town. I have a lot of questions, but no answers to give.
Crimson Explorer
I started to embrace the idea of being an explorer in this game. Funnily enough, this entire blog has become centered around the idea of exploration. It wasn’t really intentional, but I don’t mind it one bit. The only unfortunate problem is that my role doesn’t fit anywhere all that well. I’m probably more suited towards talking about the lore of game, yet I spend a great deal avoiding it. Not that I’m against it or anything. I just don’t feel ready nor confident to elaborate more upon this world.
It could just be that I have no one to communicate with in regards to the lore of the game. Its more likely due to the fact that I use a rather unorthodox method for creating “content”.
Actually, I think it has less to do with communication or method of delivery. My conundrum is that of time. I already, spend atleast an hour or 2 making this blog every single day. I work a full time job and need sleep like any other human being. (I’ll also be going back into college in the future.) I’m approaching the line of where I practically breathe and living inside the game.
Obviously, I’m not being literal in that statement, but I do want to make it clear for myself. I already live in one vast world. I don’t need to add another onto the list.
Anyhow, I was originally going to talk about the fact that I got the Crimson Explorer title. Its not a particularly difficult title to get, but its the first time I’ll ever use a title in-game. Sort’ve a way to further commit myself into completeing the sightseeing logs in this game. On that note, I want to make a quick mention on how terrible the sightseeing logs are.
I didn’t check Heavensward, but Stormblood and onwards the devs thought it would be a good idea to only hint the zone of the vista and nothing else. Atleast in A Realm Reborn, they spent a fair amount of detail in creating riddles and hints for its vistas. Starting Heavensward, the vistas are now visible which made them easier to find, but that didn’t mean they had to remove the flipping hints!
Man I was here preparing myself to find the vistas without any guide (with exceptions of A Realm Reborn) only to find out that the only way to find them is flying around the map randomly. I’m deeply sadden by this design choice. Oh yeah, I should also mention that after Stormblood. There’s no freakin rewards for finding all of the vistas per expansion! Seriously, neither Shadowbrings or Endwalker has an incentive to find vistas, unless you want the achievement for it. I almost want to make my own sightseeing logs for others to try and find, due to the sad state of the new ones past A Realm Reborn.
Unfortunately, there’s no way I can make a sightseeing log to the extent that the game has. An depressing reality.
Conclusion
I want to mention a person by the name of Synodic Scribe. Atleast that’s their youtube channel name. They primarily make lore content for FFXIV. In some ways, they inspired me to delve further into the lore of this game. Although, I personally don’t want to follow their footsteps (ain’t it obvious?). I don’t watch their videos all of the time, but occasionally I see something of note.
On that note, there’s one video that I do want to mention for whoever reads this. To keep it short, its called The State of FFXIV. It mainly focuses on the lore of the game and some of their thoughts with the potential future of the game. Oddly, most of the topics they mention were stuff that I had spoken to some friends about. In particular, Krile and returning to the roots of being an adventurer.
Sadly, I won’t delve further on either of those two today. It would involve me spoiling the entirety of the story and I have yet to reach Endwalker with this blog.
Anyways, that’s all I have for today. I don’t have anything planned for tomorrow, so hopefully something of note comes up befor then. Hope you folks have a good day/night!
