The Great Plaza…
So yeah here’s the plaza… There’s a lot of people here… What else is there for me to say? Also here’s a screenshot without the people because why not.
Xenoblade 3 Impressions
Spoilers Ahead
So far I have put in about 15 hours into the game as a whole. Currently, early on in Chapter 3 for those who want an idea of where I am at in the story. I kind’ve gotten distracted by all of the side stories and may have neglected the main story. Either way, there’s much to be said about the game.
The first thing I am going to mention is my thoughts on how this game compares with Xenoblade Chronicles 2. For context, Xenoblade 2 is by far my favorite game on the Switch even more than Breath of the Wild. Xenoblade 3 currently surpasses Xenoblade 2 on pretty much every aspect. Its hard to really say how much of an improvement Xenoblade 3 is over Xenoblade 2. Honestly, as much as I liked Xenoblade 2. It really did have some problems especially in the early parts of the game. I think Chapter 7 of Xenoblade 2 is where it really hit it for me. (All thanks to Nia) Although, for Xenoblade 3. I think Chapter 3 is where it definetly outshines the predecessor.
I think part of the reason is the world design and setting. Xenoblade 2 was basically set on a huge cloud ocean withtitans roaming around a huge world tree. Xenoblade 3 has a vast array of environments (with little restrictions on where to go) and while it does appear to have some huge storm in the middle of it similiar to 2. I think it adds to the design of the world as a whole. Especially, since there’s a much more easily explained reason as to why it exists unlike the World tree having a huge vortex around it. Then again, I may have forgotten some parts of Xenoblade 2 since I haven’t touched the story in a while.
Alright, so this part is going to mention a rather significant spoiler. I am making an extra warning for the folks ignoring the initial warning. Anyhow, I think it was mentioned at the beginning of Chapter 3 or the end of 2. One of the characters mentioned about being uncertain what “City” means and to be honest. I loved what the writers did with that. Essentially, the players have perfectly good understanding of what a city is, but the characters themselves did not. As such, by mentioning their lack of knowledge the players may now doubt the exact definition of “City”. Its a great way of instilling doubt and adding a greater degree of mystery behind a place that may have seem “mundane”.
One last thing I want to mention is the Side stories for Xenoblade 3. Oh my god they are so good. To be frank, it almost feels like they are part of the main story, but I imagine they can be completed whenever you want (until reaching a certain point in the story I presume). In fact I am doing side stories that are at a higher level than the main story quest I am on. Which is great. Grinding in this game isn’t all that necessary for as long you are doing side stories and possibly killing a few elite mobs.
Now sadly I haven’t really fleshed out my thought all that much, so I do apologize for it being a bit erratic.
