Alright, so I didn’t think much about this first, but theres a vista that gives some info regarding this location. Essentially, it used to be closed off from the public mainly intended for private balls. Although, thats no longer the case due to a lack of funds which I find rather peculiar. For a place that has Lalafells all concerned about money. You would think funds wouldn’t be a problem unless… They were hoarding all of their gil and don’t see any value of this place. Honestly, I will somewhat agree in the idea of this place being rather useless in terms of defense.
Over to the right you notice there’s an archway that has a gate built into it. There’s another on the other side that you can’t see. These gates are meant to prevent intruders/invaders from breaching into the royal promenade. Atleast thats how I’ve interpreted them. However as some keen readers may have noticed. There’s a lack of walls on the inner circle side of the balcony. Because of this someone can just literally shoot across the gate and hit potential defenders. Not only that you can also notice that gates have guard rails protuding on the side of the gate. You walk across it with ease (atleast for a lalafell) as shown below:
Ignore the guard over there they won’t live to tell the tale.
To be frank, I feel that the purpose behind the gates while may appear for defense honestly only serve to delay would be intruders. (May or may not have prior experience with that) Given a clear lack of proper defense. They seem designed to delay folks with “mal-intent” so that guards can come to corner and arrest/kill them. Although, that clearly fails to mention the fact that this is on a balcony and most adventures that I know of. Can jump off it and survive with minimal casualities. This is starting to become a moot point. The gates are going to plague me for the foreseeable future in how terrible they are designed.
Anyhow, thats it for Ul’Dah. Next I will be tackling the good old “Limsa Lominsa” City-State. Sadly, its my least favorite place to go to and I might struggle to find anything of interest to mention (outside of the main plaza area) Vistas are something that I should mention about as well. Vistas/Sightseeing logs are rather similar to what I am doing and I’ll try to avoid copying them if possible. Regardless, I do think the atrium with the fountain is quite a calming place to be in even if it fails to protect the heart of Ul’Dah. I might just make a complaint to the developers on this one. May sound ridiculous, but I think they’ll have some enjoyment out of someone nitpicking a design choice 10 years ago. You never know, might get an npc to actually mention the Gates’ design flaw. However, thats assuming I even proceed to mention this at all.
Lastly, I like to make some recommendations to those bored, waiting in queue or whatever the reason may be. Try to walk up to no named npcs from time to time. They can at times have little speech bubbles pop up that may give lore to the surrounding area. Then again its a bit of a pain to read the bubbles when multiple pop up at the same time.

Todays the day! Well not really. Later tonight I should be able to play the game on the Switch. I will be investing a lot of time on that game and heck if I can figure out how to upload screenshots. I might just add some screenshots along with these posts. Heck, I might just do a little review once I beaten the game. I won’t promise anything sadly.
