Stormblood [4.0]: Post may contain potential spoilers.
Ceol Aen
This is a rather peculiar area to say the least. Its just a bunch of pillars with some semblance of order. Clearly, I understand very little of this place. It might have some logic behind it, but I go nothing.
Oh yeah, I should apologize for the rather lousy shot for today. The pillars are of the same texture with the mountains making it blend a fair amount to the background. Not only that. I don’t have flight. Resulting me unable to take a more steeper angle of this shot.
I got nothing more to discuss about this area. The only thing that I will mention is that I intend to hop on over to another zone after post 265. Also, I intend to take a screenshot in a dungeon this time around tomorrow. Last time I did this was Hauke Manor. That was probably over 200 posts ago.
Lets move over to a thought that I had for the past few days.
Playing FFXIV and posting daily
Sometimes I wonder if this game has caused an addiction for myself. Seriously, I play this game nearly every single day and nearly multiple hours at a time. It makes one ponder at times.
Now for some this may seem normal. However, I never played a game as consistently as FFXIV. I’m somewhat I have “nomad” when it comes to playing games. For example, I’ll played Valheim shortly after it came out. I spent 150 hours over the course of a month in that game. Then suddenly, I stop playing the game for like 9 months.
This happens all of the time with me. There are many games where I spend countless hours in a single week and drop it for months to years at a time. I have hardly spent more than a month consistently playing games till the introduction of FFXIV.
FFXIV suffered the same fate like all of the other games. Unlike other games. I wanted to invest more time into this game and accomplish things (like the submersibles). I’m also a bit of an “MMO Enthusiast” and been waiting for flipping Ashes of Creations since its Kickstarter launched. Unfortunately, that game has yet to reach the palms of my hands, but I got friends who play FFXIV.
Anyhow, I needed something that kept me coming back to the game frequently. Short story short. I had a decrepit blog sitting around that was begging for life and decided to actually start using it. The only problem was that I didn’t want to make weekly blogs. The gaps between posts would’ve resulted me in procastinating till the very last moment. Ultimately, resulting in me not making posts at all.
As such, Screenshot a Day was born. A method to force myself into the game every day (till the heat death of the universe). Atleast till I could no longer bother to touch the game.
Now with the whole context out of the way. I’m concerned that this has resulted in a form of addiction. Would I experience some kind of withdrawal if I were to stop playing this game for a week? Honestly, I have no idea. There’s really only one way I can best describe my situation.
This blog has become more of a pointless job that an addiction.
Seriously, I don’t get paid for this nor do I find myself doing these posts everyday fun. I intended to pursue this in the long run, but man if it wasn’t for this blog. I would’ve stopped playing FFXIV like any other game I play. If I were to stop blogging for lets say a week. I’m fairly confident that my motivation to keep logging in the game would diminish completely.
I was part of a conference/workshop thing for my company and it was weird when one of the speakers mentioned about how we develop a habit in 3 days. I still have to force myself almost every other day to make these posts. I swore this was going to get easier in time.
If there’s any 2 cent advice I can give to those who are starting out in blogging is this:
“Creating and publishing a post should take less than a minute.”
Efficency is king when it comes to the long run. Now not everyone’s situation is the same. One of the reasons why I kept making these posts is due to how easy it is to make them. Now obviously the content within the posts are a different story. (You should look at the month of Feburary to see how little content was within the posts.)
You know. I think its fair to say that I have a certain level of attachment to this blog and FFXIV as a whole. However, if I were to stop blogging in general. My attachment with FFXIV will diminish fairly quickly. Its sort’ve a job for me. A job that I don’t think many care for. (That’s why I ain’t getting paid for it.)
Tags
I should really start utilizing the tags more for my blog. I’ve used them once when I created that seperate post with that short story of mine. However, these posts have become much larger than normal and have a lot of text in them. I doubt many people want to read every single post just to find that one piece of information about Goaccess or something.
As such, I should at some point start adding additional tags to seperate these daily posts out. Like with many other things on my plate. I won’t state at what time this will start. I do however at some point want to do it (retroactively too).
Conclusion
I wasn’t really expecting this post to go down a rather odd path today. Originally, it was going to be discussing about addictions, but instead it became the third story of why I made this blog. Weird to say the least. I just hope this doesn’t become some weird trend of sorts.
Anyhow, I hope you folks have a good day/night!
