Here we go. I’ve uploaded the video. Thankfully, adding chapters weren’t all that complicated. To be frank, I’ve lied a tad on the fact that I have little to say. There’s one additional thing for me to discuss in regards to the preservation project. Commitment. I don’t have too much to say about it, but I do feel like its a tad important to mention. The main reason being is that as I’ve said in the previous posts. I’m not going to get alot of attention with these videos. While I hope for at least a 1,000 views. I’m also suspecting that it will never come to fruition. There’s a few reasons behind why, but I don’t have a huge amount of interest of clickbaiting people into watching multiple hour videos that don’t have too much going on with it.
Since people will hardly ever watch these videos. I must have some kind of commitment to pursue this monumental task. On that note, I know a person whom has played the game since 2013 and they have seen alot of changes to this game as a whole. Its honestly surprising on how much Mor Dhona has changed over the years. Try and watch some of the older videos that have clips of that area something like version 2.2. Newer folks would be quite shocked on the differences from A Realm Reborn to Endwalker. Its hard to say if I will ever be able to “preserve” the entire game or not. I doubt that this will ever be an achievable task.
Whoever reads this post may think that I have a weak amount of commitment to this project and in some ways they aren’t wrong. I don’t know if I will enjoy doing this for more than a month. However, I do have goals for myself. Currently the first goal is to complete the major zones of Heavensward. Afterwards I will move up to Stormblood and so on. I will then finish it off with A Realm Reborn. The meatiest of the expansions. I have a small treat at the end of each expansion. I haven’t fleshed out the idea, but I will reach it at some point before the completion of Heavensward.
However, I’ve been ignoring the most important part of this project. Nothing, there’s nothing that is making me stick with this project. What I mean is that there’s no incentive, no rewards and no prestige. Nothing. The only thing I get to boast about this project (if at all) is the satisfaction of completing it (which it will never finish). This is honestly why my commitment to this project is tenuous at best. Thats the reason as to why I’m uploading it to Youtube and making it public. That way it will force me to toil on even if it becomes a burden. I would be fine tackling this task if people appreciate the nonscencial videos I make for FFXIV. Honestly, I don’t know what to expect the results of this project. It may become useless in the near future or some people may find it and are grateful for it. I don’t know. I just don’t know. Maybe I should spread this dumb project of mine. Just to see whether this project is even worth it in the end.
Maybe the opinions and criticisms of others will finally break me. Then again I might just break myself before it ever reaches the sight of another. Nevertheless, I don’t intend to breakdown now. I still have a long journey ahead of me and I haven’t given up on my Screenshot a day series for FFXIV. If I haven’t given up on these posts then I plan on preservering. It may take many moons, but some value of this project will appear before me.
On that note, with the completion of The Churning Mists. I will be jumping onto the Dravanian Forelands. Also in the meantime, I may do a shorter video going after The Aetherochemical Research Facility. More as a test bed for how I will do dungeons. Plus I wonder if they will make any changes to it since it will be added to the duty support for 6.3 update. As always, linked down below is the video itself. With a couple adjustment from the previous one. This time I’ve added chapters and I’m still a bit debating on how I should present these videos to newcomers.
