Greensward
Well ain’t this going to be a trend. Instead of fog, I get electrical storm of nightmares. Quite the nuisance I must say. Anyhow, I don’t have much to say with Final Fantasy XIV today, but I do have a little backstory to tell for one of the npcs for Solarian. Although, its also going to serve as a character for a campaign that a friend is going to be running hopefully soon
Solarian: Prix’s Backstory
“People always change, but stars never do” -Prix
Many may not expect it coming from me, but I have battled on many shores. For whom you may ask? It matters not anymore. I was apart of some mercenary band that specialized in sea raiding. We tend to be the vanguard of whomever footed the bill. Our tactics typically involved in sacking food supplies or crippling ports in the middle of the night.
It wasn’t easy by any means. Fighting alone knowing that if you were to kick the bucket no one would care. The people that payed us only wanted results and our leader, while caring clearly, saw some of us as fodder. Oddly enough, I wasn’t considered to be fodder by many of the veterans including the leader. I may have been nimble, but I was by no means capable of putting up much of a fight. I think it mainly had something to deal with my passing hobby of gazing at the constellations. For some reason the leader was rather conscientious of my gazing to the point that they would ask me of what I see up in the starry nights. It took a rather unfortunate contract for me to really understand why the leader was always asking me those questions.
In fact that unfortunate contract was my last with that band. It was any different from our raids. This time we were tasked to sabotage a castle’s food supplies and its gate for when the army arrives in the morning. The gate wasn’t really possible, so we mainly set out to tackle their food supplies. The unfortunate part is that the garrison’s forces were prepared for our arrival. I suppose we were a tad infamous for our exploits. Part way of our infiltration of the castle. Horns broke the silent night and arrows flew right at us knocking 6 of us down to a watery grave. During one of the volleys I happen to notice a sharpshooter up in the distance. It was clear that they were a master of their art and were marking our leader. In a moment’s notice I flung myself in the direction of the arrow’s path from the sharpshooter and plunged into the ocean expecting this to be my end. However, a fae in their whimsical desires had a different plan of action.
I find myself one day awake under the night sky. Lost and confused. Another predicament was that I myself was no longer the same. I knew little of the Fae and their tricks, but clearly this must’ve been one of them. The only conundrum is my location. Months have gone by and I eventually found something of familiarity. The castle from before in fact. It appears to have been successfully conquered by our contractors, but clearly I see no presence of the mercenary band. Given my new appearance, I knew it would be impossible for others to recognize me. The only thing I was able to take comfort on my aimless journey were the cosmos. It seems with my encounter with the fae. I have unlocked some kind connection with the cosmos and was able to easily channel its energies through myself.
Having departed from my band. I spent the few years coming to an understanding of my new found powers and an ever constant excitement for the constellations. It honestly kept me alive over these years. I’ve also helped a few adventures over the course of time, but for the most part I spent my time on ships and acting as a navigator from time to time.
The character I am making is going to be a changeling Druid under the circle of stars subclass.
Some may question why changeling for a druid that can just use wildshape and the reason is quite simple. Because I want to. Honestly, I never really played a changeling before, so I decided to mix things up a bit. Plus I decided to focus a bit on versatility because the campaign this character is going to be part of is a heist. Which versatility will probably be helpful. Lastly, I think this is the first time I will be playing as a druid in 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons. Possibly the first.
Anyhow, I don’t really have much else today. As such I hope you all have a good day/night.
